What is a woman? Is a woman merely a womb or mother or daughter or wife? IT is a question one can ever find any answer. There are preconceived notions set by the society about what a woman is and those notions have been deeper inside the human psyche which reinforces misguided messages when it is a question of her role in the society.

To me a woman is an individual, she has opinions, she has rights to assert herself, she can take decisions and in no way her life has to be shaped or sacrificed for her benefit of her partner or husband. In a relationship, it is two people who make it work and under no circumstance because she is a woman, all the responsibility of the household duties and children are to burdened on her shoulder. Because she is woman she is in no way responsible to give up her career to look after the children alone. It is a responsibility of both in that relationship.

It is strange that in changing times, a woman still has to make her individuality voiced in the society. She has to keep reminding people, “I am a human being and I have right to live.”  It is a shame that even modernized western culture has not given her what she deserves.

The purpose of this website is to create awareness of violence, abuse, belittling and unfair treatment meted on woman. IT is for all those who feel embittered in relationship, cannot raise their voice, feel helpless and are caught in a day to day verbal abuse or blatant violence.

It is a small initiative by group of women in Melbourne’s South-Eastern suburbs. We have an email address on which you can communicate to us about problems you face in relationships.

This initiative, at the moment, is at a very basic stage but assures you privacy at all times in distress.  Once you communicate us we will try our best to give you required support to make your life better

We cannot change the society the way we want but at least create awareness that every woman in this world has to respected, she is a human being and not a machine or a punch ball.

Naam Jaap Meditation

Why Naam Jaap Meditation Recently I read an article on meditation and it inspired me immensely. How do you meditate? It is important to tame your mind. There are innumerable paths and many Gurus. It is indeed overwhelming. The road to inner self is of twists and turns…..so very true.
In order to progress spiritually I undertook mediation lessons from an esteemed institute, visited many ashrams thinking I might get enlightened there, tuned in regularly to television channels on spirituality to gain real insight, read books voraciously, but all in vain. None of these led me to my inner self.
One day I was introduced to the Naam Jaap path of meditation by Shri Kumar… (I haven’t got permission to use his name). Naam Jaap was simple. It meant chanting the divine name, it could be Namah Shivay or Shri Sai Ram or Jai Mahakali but for me it was Shri Swami Samarth. It is to be done without moving the tongue say for half an hour. However, the time could be decided by an individual. It was a simpler path than the other challenging paths I followed to advance spiritually.
This practise started showing effects quite soon. I became a calmer person, balanced my professional life and household duties with better ease and my life in a way became stable to the demands of modern life. I had an inward urge to become vegetarian. Each time I consumed meat my body rejected in form of abdominal pains or allergies. Nevertheless change in diet made me achieve further advancement as I learnt the food you consume becomes your body. I also realised my monetary situation improved without any kind of move towards it. It was all HIS LEELA!
All this is good but I am just at a nascent stage, there is a long way to go. This is just a beginning. If the beginning is so bright can you imagine the higher levels on this path? In no way I have renounced life, I love dancing, shopping, eating good food and I enjoy life with great fervour.
It is difficult in today’s world to take even 15-20 minutes for meditation (might have to give precious television viewing time). However, if you just give 15 minutes of time from daily hectic life before sleep, believe me, you will also be able to give 30 minutes, in fact you will able to dedicate more and more time as your mind will work well due to the calming effects of Naam Jaap. It is like a mind altering drug, very intoxicating, which will draw you every night in its bosom.
With the practise of sitting in thoughtless mind with only Naam Jaap, it will connect you to your inner self. You will feel a better human being. Your relationships, marital or with friends will improve. More people will be attracted to you. Your eyes will become deep and radiant and your skin will glow. SO many benefits without any monetary investment but investment of time! Amazing I would recommend each one of you who reads this, should give it a try. Make sure you have small place for this practise. Keep it clean, use scented candles or incense, sit preferably facing Nort-East as that is the area to attract the divine magnetic energy and a seat of wool or silk mat will be good. It is said that wool or silk acts as an insulation against endless thoughts that unnecessarily crowd our mind.
It is recommended having a gap of at least 2 hours after food before you sit for meditation. It is the need of the hour my friends! We see so much violence around us therefore, Naam Jaap is the only panacea to achieve peace in this world.

shree swami samarth: Inner Peace

Inner Peace

Inner Peace
The quality of life we live depends not on material progress but on inner development and advancement towards higher spiritual path. The modern life  today is a mixed bag of work related stress, atmospheric pollution, traffic congestion, unhealthy eating habits leading to rise in different types of maladies. Although we have all the possible comforts, there is a kind of an imbalance. As  a result, we see a volatile society which erupts on slightest provocation. Terrorist attacks, murders, accidental deaths are equally a part of our living today.
Peace is the quest of modern man. He leaves no stone unturned to achieve this. So we see people trying to find this peace in   Himalayan Ashrams, yoga retreats, detoxification treatment, and religious discourses and of courses how can we ignore our God Men and Babas misleading already frustrated and stressed population. However, the question here is does any of the above mentioned thing help? Do you really find peace at a prescribed place? So where do you go to find this peace?
To find external peace in this world, there has to be inner peace. First we have to find peace within ourselves. It is a good routine to sit calmly for ten minutes and get into self introspection and interrogate oneself, Am I peaceful?  On a particular day how many times did I think ill of someone? How many times I recollected what others said about me and how I was hurt? How many times did I get angry and injured people by words? Remember whatever you say in anger, resentment, vengeance or to taunt or retort you create a sound energy which will never be destroyed. Therefore, calculate your words, train to calm your mind and restrain from provocative speech. Once you are in control of your speech, the process of inner peace will be facilitated. When you find peace within, you will become one with the Universal Consciousness Shri Swami Samarth and you will find peace around you.  If we train our mind to resolve our daily conflict within, we will attain a peaceful mind. Without inner peace outer peace is impossible.
Daily routine to make this possible
Either during morning or night time give 10- 15 minutes for this process.
Do brahamari Pranayam for 5 minutes
  • Close your eyes and with the thumb close your ears as well. Let the fore finger. Middle finger and ring finger rest on your eyes. With the little finger press the corners of your nose.
  • Partially close your glottis as you inhale through both nostrils, making a snoring sound
  • Now exhale little by little, emitting a sound like a humming bee.
  • Humming as you exhale allows you to spin out your breath and make a longer exhalation.
  • Repeat the practice 5 - 10 times.
(www.yogawiz.com) see the website also for benefits of Brahamari pranayam.
Then sit quiet and self introspect about everything you did on that day.
Take a deep breath (in your mind say I am exhaling out all my negativity. Sometimes naming helps eg. I am not envious of Mary or John or angry with Tim or I don’t hate Micheal)and exhale vigorously from the stomach to expel all the hatred, anger, contempt, jealousy, envy you have about other people. Repeat this process 3-5 times.
Stay in breathless situation as long as you can last. Do not overdo it.
Spend some time chanting in the rhythm : inhale Shri Swami Samarth, exhale; Shri Swami Samarth.
Surrender to Him totally and He will guide on the path of peace.
